It is amazing to me how many people use this slow and decrepit website to keep up with friends. A while back when I first saw this site I thought it was interesting but not enough for me to want to keep up with it. I already had my online journal since 2000 working and was upgrading to WordPress on my server. I see the draw in the site as it seems to make it easier for “friends” to keep up with you.
However my intent has always been that these same friends should keep up with you anyway WITHOUT Facebook. Why did it take a social-site for you to become social. My wife will tell you I am the most unsociable person you will meet. I beg to differ a bit as I have friends that I talk to all the time. I see them at church, I go to lunch with them, talk to them on the phone, etc. I don’t find it necessary to inject myself into their daily activities unless necessary.
Maybe I am at the early stages of becoming a curmudgeon but I’ve used the Internet for over 10 years now and working in the industry for over 6 years I see the bad side of the internet. I see the results of customers activities when a subpoena comes across my desk. I’ve seen the results of bad people taking advantage of good folks via the Internet and especially in these “social-sites!”
As capricious as I am I’ve decided to join you crazy folks instead and I am willing to impart to anyone who asks, my experience of the WWW. Feel free to call on me anytime via email jones1@netdoor.com, text me or call me. If you don’t have my number email me. I may not be able to answer every question but I can lead you in the right direction.
Thankfully Facebook has an RSS feed reader so I only have to update my blog and Facebook will pull from it. Here we go…….
For $7 a ticket Wes and I were a little disappointed about this show. We found out after the show that some tickets were simply given away through various auto parts stores, etc. The biggest issue was that all of the cars batteries were disconnected. It’s a little hard to test feature’s of a car when you can’t play with them. Ford’s SYNC service could not be tested and neither could the NAV system on the Dodge Challenger.
There excuse was that “some” of the cars were available for a test drive. This much was true. Wes and I test drove the Dodge Challenger and got it up to 100MPH rather quickly. SWEET! We also test drove the Mazda 6. I am not a Mazda fan but I think I would buy this car if I didn’t already like the new Toyota Venza. We didn’t test drive it but will soon. I’m going to write MADA and suggest some things for next year.
FINALLY a worthwhile quality car show comes to Jackson! It starts Friday, January 23 and runs through Sunday, January 25, 2009. It is being held at the new Capital City Convention Center. It will feature a collection of exciting new-model and pre-production vehicles, concept cars, specialty vehicle displays, alternative fuel vehicles and family-style entertainment. All of this for only $8 a ticket. The tickets are $7 if you purchase online and you get a free 1 year subscription to Motor Trend magazine. This is certainly going to be better than the fiasco we paid $10 for last year.
Wes and I are taking off on Friday to see it first hand. Very excited.
We had our first Vet visit last Saturday and they both are in good condition. They had round worms but the medication we were given seems to have cleared them up. Jack weighed 4.5 lbs. and Maddie weighed 3.8 lbs. The doc also noted that they are NOT a Lab mix. He indicated that they seem to be a Pug mix; which really is more likely than a Lab for various physical reasons. Both pups tails curl up like a pug and Maddie’s nose is seemingly “pushed-in” like a Pug. two different Doc evaluations agreed Pug.
It was also Dodgers time to get updated shots as well. He was perfectly healthy and doing fine they said. He weighed 12 lbs.
We’ll we took a plunge the other day and acquired two Jack Russell / ??? mix puppies! Two! I wanted to get another dog so Dodger would not be so lonely, but MY WIFE of all people said, “why not get two of them?” 😯 . The owner brought all 5 puppies she had to the house for us to look at. They had one female, which I really wanted. She was adorable as were all the puppies. We also fell in love with one male that was white with no spots.
Looking at them it seems to me the father is a Labrador Retriever. They have large paws and look some-what like a retriever. The ears go down instead of up like a J.R. I’ll have pics up soon.
