The car is now street legal. Tag, inspection, and insurance all acquired. Now I have the joy of teaching Wes how to drive a “stick.” He has been practicing in the driveway learning how to use the clutch and is getting better. We’re headed out tonight to drive around town and get more practice.
It turns out the horn works a little too well. It seems the horn buttons on the steering wheel are “always-on.” I could not get it to stop blowing once I replaced the horn itself. I eventually ran a bypass in-line with the power source and connected a momentary switch. I noticed that one of the fan belts is wearing pretty bad so I purchased replacements and will hopefully have time this weekend to work on them.

Well we’ll finally will have the title in our hot little hands tomorrow no thanks to the State Tax office. We should be able to insure it as well. Only thing we have left to make it pass inspection is to fix the horn. I will try to get that done tonight or tomorrow. Wes still needs to learn how to drive the “stick.” We’ll work on that as well.
To date we have the Civic running a little better than before. All has been fixed/replaced with the exception of the body work. A total of 4 new tires, new battery got it back in running order. The lights and all work and the radio has been installed and is working.
All-in-all, so far so good. At this point we’re only waiting on the title to come in to the previous owner. Not sure why it is taking so long. Hopefully we’ll have it legal soon. Stay tuned for Pics.
Well it looks like this site is going to turn into “Project EX” instead of Project 240. We gave up trying to find a replacement motor for the 240 in time for Wes to start school. Although we still have the 240 we just purchased a 1994 Honda Civic EX 2 dr. It has all the things Wes likes already in it. It has a 1.6L VTEC engine with adjustable cams. A header was already installed along with a cool-air intake, and “ricer” muffler.
It runs fine but has a small list of things that need to be done. Basically we are at the point we wanted to be with the 240, running and needs work. We’ve already replaced the two front tires and battery. Drove it home, washed it and looked over it more. It needs some body work such as a new passenger door and front fender. Some of the body trim is missing after a “botched” paint job. We’ll replace the rear tires this week and repair the reverse lights and horn to make it legal. Pics will be loaded soon.
We replaced the positive side connector with a complete new cable. Once that was done we learned that we had blown the fuse on the interior lights. Replaced, worked fine. We also found out that we blew the 75A alternator fuse as well. I had to go to the dealer for that one.
Now we still have a problem and I believe it has to do with the alternator itself. We’ve sort-of placed everything on hold right now for several reasons I do not wish to put in writing. Wes found a KA24E yesterday with around 220,000 miles on it. We’re told it still runs good. We’ll see. Right now though we’re in a holding pattern. I’ll try and get some new pics up soon.
